Watch as Sparks Fly in Wild Chase with Stolen Wash. Police Cruiser
Police in Washington arrested a man early Wednesday after he attacked officers and led them on a high-speed chase in a stolen cruiser that had sparks flying.
The incident happened shortly after 4:15 a.m. when Bellevue police confronted a man—identified as Dorion Rowe—who was burglarizing a car dealership, KCPQ-TV reports. When officers tried to take Rowe into custody, he assaulted them, choking out one officer before another officer stopped him.
Rowe then stole an SUV on display and fled the scene before crashing. According to police, Rowe got out of the wrecked vehicle and surrendered.
"I'm done," he told officers.
When police went to arrest Rowe, he instead stole a cruiser and led officers on another chase. Rowe reached speeds of up to 110 mph, and spike strips were deployed to try to stop the vehicle.
Dashboard camera footage showed sparks flying from the vehicle after it lost a tire and was traveling on the rim. Finally, a Tukwila police officer used a PIT maneuver to stop the cruiser.
Rowe tried to flee on foot, but he was apprehended by a K-9 and arrested.
Rowe was charged with felony first-degree burglary, two counts of vehicle theft, third-degree assault, two counts of attempting to elude police and hit-and-run. Earlier this year, he was convicted of fourth-degree assault and faces pending charges of domestic violence and assault.
